Fluoride treatment in Lutsk

Fluoride treatment means applying a fluoride product to the enamel to make it more resistant to acids. It's recommended when indicated, not for everyone.

How fluoride works

Fluoride helps enamel regain minerals lost to acids. Teeth become more resistant to decay, and sensitivity often decreases. Besides fluoride varnishes and gels, the dentist may suggest remineralising products with calcium and phosphate.

Who it may be recommended for

  • people with a higher risk of decay;
  • sensitive teeth, including after cleaning;
  • patients with braces;
  • children — depending on age and the state of their teeth;
  • early decay at the white-spot stage.

How it's done

  1. The teeth are cleaned first — usually as the final step of professional hygiene.
  2. The teeth are dried.
  3. The dentist applies varnish or gel with a small brush, or uses trays.
  4. Afterwards you shouldn't eat or drink for a while — the dentist will tell you how long.

What not to expect

Fluoride won't cure decay that has already formed a cavity and won't whiten teeth. It doesn't replace daily brushing and a sensible diet.

Fluoride isn't compulsory after every cleaning. The dentist will recommend it only when it will benefit you.

In Lutsk, we recommend having this procedure at the dental clinic “Dentika” (Dmytra Ivashchenka St, 1a).
